How many times after a meal do you stop and think of the quality of that food? Harmful human activities are leading to contamination of food that we consume on a daily basis. This is posing a great threat to human health with many people getting serious illnesses from contaminated food and in some cases dying. Food contamination basically refers to food that has been corrupted by another substance which can be either physical, biological or chemical.

Biological contamination.

Human beings need food to survive and this is why we should be careful about the quality of the food that we consume. Food can be contaminated by organisms or substances that these organisms produce. Biological matter from rodents, insects, microorganisms is often mostly bacteria and viruses which cause major types of food poisoning. I have experienced cases of food poisoning severally which is why I am very interested in finding a solution to this menace.

Physical contamination.

The processed food goes through during production is also a major issue of concern because most of food contaminants also originate from here. At any stage, food can undergo physical contamination from foreign objects such as band-aids, steel wool or pieces of plastic. A person who consumes food with these foreign objects is bound to get ill.

Chemical contamination.

Framers tend to overuse pesticides without knowing that these chemicals end up contaminating food. Chemical contamination is very dangerous because people end up getting exposed to toxic chemical substances some of which can cause death. The issue of food contamination should not be taken lightly and a solution needs to be found.

The world needs to look for a solution to minimize cases of food contamination, soil pollution and even water pollution for the sake of preserving people’s health.
